5 Things to Consider Before Installing a Pool

Having a pool is a costly investment that luckily comes with a lot of benefits for the property owner. Your home will be a favourite for most of your extended family and friends, especially those that do not have one. In short, your home will be the place where the fun never stops. With it at home, your family gets to cool off during hot summer months. No need to leave your compound to go to a resort or any other public one.

However, to get all these benefits that come with getting a pool, you need to make sure that it is constructed in the right manner. Before having one, you must consider the following five things.

1. The type you want to construct

You have the option between an in ground or an above ground pool. Both have their pros and cons. In terms of pricing, the latter is much more economical because as the name suggests you will not have to dig as deep as you will with an in ground one. This type is not just affordable but costs less to repair and maintain it. Assembling an above the ground one, on the other hand, is simple and will take lesser time. However, that is as much as you will get from them.

In ground ones are what you should opt for if you are not working with a tight budget. With it comes lots of benefits, for instance, you get lots of design options to choose from.

2. What kind of materials do you intend to use

There a variety of materials that are available in the market for construction, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Concrete stands out amongst all the rest because it can be easily modified to fit any form and shape. This gives the homeowner room for more creativity and getting unique designs.

The other commonly used material is fibreglass. It’s an advantage that it can be quickly assembled, giving owners the chance to have their projects completed quickly. It is also suited to fit different climatic conditions. Unfortunately, with fibreglass, there is very little that can be done in terms of creativity.

 3. Builders to work with

It would be best if you got professional builders for installation. If you are getting an in ground one, you must go for experienced guys. Failure to get the right personnel might result in costly issues.

4. How you will sanitise your water

You have plenty of options when it comes to this. Chlorine has been used for decades. However, there are newer technologies which offer more health benefits. Make sure you talk to your contractor, and you will be advised on what to use. You can also do your own research online.

5. The location

The place your pool will be located is an important consideration to be made. You want it somewhere raised to avoid runoff water and debris getting deposited in it. Secondly have it away from shade, either from trees or high walls. Everyone wants to swim in the sun, not under shade.

If you factor in the above tips, then you will be well on your way to getting something great for your home.
